Memorial Community Health and Westfield Quality Care facilities in Aurora received allocations of COVID-19 vaccinations Monday, a significant and long-awaited first step toward curbing the pandemic threat, administrators agree.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) at Zion Lutheran Church in Hampton set out with a merry mission this holiday season -- to share food with their community. “Usually we do a big feed in December,” Sharon Klute said. “It’s called Merry Meatball Mania and we feed our congregation.

The former Hordville school building will soon be coming down. Village board members voted last week to accept a bid from G & G Dozer, based in Caney, Kan., to demolish a three-story brick structure, parts of which have stood for more than a century.

Eighteen new troopers have joined the ranks of the Nebraska State Patrol, including Grant Moody of Aurora. He was given badge number 178 and assigned to Aurora for his duty station. His assignment is Troop C.
