Area football schedules released

The Nebraska Schools Activities Association released the 2026-2027 high school football schedules Wednesday.Aurora makes a return to Class B football for the next two-year cycle and sees a return of several familiar opponents and rivalries from past memory.

It was two sides of the coin for Aurora and Hampton football in the opening round of the football playoffs Friday night.The Huskies picked up its second win over Central City in seven days while the Hawks hosted its first playoff game since 2009, but couldn't find that elusive win over Wallace.

Aurora and High Plains rolled to big wins Friday night behind big offensive numbers. The Huskies totaled over 350 yards in its biggest offensive output of the season, defeating Milford 56-14.Aurora ran for over 200 yards while adding nearly 150 through the air, scoring 35 points before half.

The High Plains football team fell behind early, but left no doubt in the end.Powered by three Gage Friesen rushing touchdowns as well as a pick six, the Storm turned a 14-3 deficit into a 47-20 win at home Friday night.The win moves HPC to a 5-2 record with one game left in the regular season.
