Huskies advance to district final

The Aurora volleyball team flashed offensive firepower across the front row in a huge win Thursday night.Despite dropping the opening set, the Huskies found a rhythm and rolled to a four-set win over Blair, 26-28, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-20 to begin the B-2 district.

Aurora waited almost two weeks for its first home match and didn't disappoint.  The Lady Huskies came out red-hot in its sweep of Holdrege Tuesday night, 25-16, 25-13 and 25-14.

Lady Huskies start season 1-1

Let's try something different.  Aurora's volleyball team opened up the 2022 volleyball season in one of the state's best triangular matchups, taking on Wahoo and Norris in Wahoo.

Longtime Aurora volleyball coach Lois Hixson has decided to put her clipboard away for good.  Hixson, who has spent the previous 16 seasons as the head coach of the Aurora volleyball team has decided to step away from coaching, the school announced through a press release Thursday.

GINW edges Aurora in B-6 final

The atmosphere was electric and the play on the court matched the intensity.  Aurora had the advantage first, but Grand Island Northwest had the last laugh, defeating the Lady Huskies in four, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17 and 25-21 in the B-6 district final from GINW Saturday morning.

Area teams set for district finals

Two area teams will compete Saturday for a spot in next week's state volleyball tournament in Lincoln.  Aurora (15-18) will play an all-too-familiar opponent, taking on Grand Island Northwest (23-11) Saturday at 11 a.m. in GI.

Aurora splits day one conference play

The beginning of the Central Conference tournament for the defending champ Aurora Huskies was a roller coaster ride. York gave them plenty of problems early, defeating Aurora in two, 25-18 and 25-20 before coming back to beat Lexington in the following match, 25-16 and 26-24.

Hastings rallies past Aurora in five

Senior night was full of wild momentum swings, tense moments and even a few light-hearted high fives with the kids.  Yet, by night's end, the visiting Hastings Tigers spoiled Aurora's night, defeating the Lady Huskies in five, 26-24, 13-25, 25-20, 25-27 and 15-11.

Lexington rallies past Aurora in five

Aurora found themselves in another five-set tussle Tuesday night, but this one had a different ending.  The Lady Huskies looked to be in control, but couldn't finish the deal in a five-set loss to Lexington, 14-25, 25-22, 25-23, 22-25 and 15-13 at home.

Aurora attack outlasts GINW

Another classic Aurora-Grand Island Northwest dual went down to the wire.  With a big hand from Lexi Jones, Aurora outlasted GINW in five, 25-21, 23-21, 25-23, 15-25 and 15-11 Tuesday night. The Aurora junior netted 25 kills in the five-set win, her best of the season by seven.
