The beginning of the Central Conference tournament for the defending champ Aurora Huskies was a roller coaster ride.

York gave them plenty of problems early, defeating Aurora in two, 25-18 and 25-20 before coming back to beat Lexington in the following match, 25-16 and 26-24.

The second set of the Lexington game proved the craziness of the first day for Aurora. Lexington led for much of it until Aurora took a 21-19 lead on attacks from Aleah Vinkenberg and Madie Stevenson.

Lexington scored five of the next six to lead 24-22. From there, Aurora fought off two match points to tie things at 24 on a Kasey Schuster ace. A Vinkenberg attack followed by a Lexington miss put Aurora on top, 26-24.

The rest of the Central Conference tournament will play out Saturday from Schuyler. Aurora will play GINW at noon and Schuyler at 2 p.m. to round out pool play before a placement match to end the day.
