By the numbers

This will be Scott Frost’s fourth season in Lincoln, but he’ll try to even up his opening day record to 2-2 after losing at Ohio State a year ago by the score of 52-17. He’ll do so at Illinois on Aug. 28 with a fourth year starter at quarterback and numerous five-year super seniors on defense.

Allen speaks to Aurora Rotary

“How’s it going, Oz?” The voice Austin Allen heard through the zoom call was all too familiar. The Aurora native has heard it quite a bit in his lifetime.  The smile that came over his face when his former coach asked him a question was all that needed to be said.

Boerkircher emerging in Big Red lineup

The beautiful, flowing hair from the back of his helmet makes him stand out in the crowd.  It’s a unique look, something that’s required a ton of patience to come in and now, enjoy the spoils of a business in the front, party in the back look.

Small ball turns big plays for Aurora Seniors team

The Aurora Pinnacle Bank Post  42 Seniors team made a few adjustments on the fly during the Class B Area 1 tournament in Fairbury this weekend hoping to extend its season.  It worked, as Aurora used several small-ball tactics at the plate to defeat Crete and nearly pick up a win over York.

Allen represents B1G Red at media days

Austin Allen isn’t much of a coffee guy. He doesn’t drink any soda, either -- hasn’t since 2011.  The former Husky has plenty of natural energy, leaving before dawn Thursday morning on a flight for Big Ten Media days in Indianapolis as the spokesman for the Huskers offense.  That’s a huge deal.
