Aurora High gets new face for first day

The first day at Aurora High School looked a little different to students as they returned on Friday. Workers completed the finishing touches to the outside and inside of the new commons area. The spacious corridor provides room for students to spread out, as well as makes the space more modern.

County confirms Sunset Terrace roads will be fixed

This week’s public participation portion of the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners meeting brought a crowd of about 30 community members from the Sunset Terrace and Platteview housing subdivisions, located just over 15 miles west of Aurora near the Platte River.

Bands on Bricks III a hit

Downtown Aurora was filled with music and people Friday night wrapping up the third year for a popular Bands on the Bricks concert series. Year three required a lot more planning and protocol, in light of the COVID pandemic, though in the end the series was deemed a success.

CDHD updates county on COVID status, budget needs

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners tackled a lengthy agenda Monday, which included a visit by Central District Health Department director Teresa Anderson, who stopped by to present her entity request for the upcoming fiscal year county budget, but also relayed coronavirus pandemic updates.

Friday storm brings some wind damage

The National Weather Service in Hastings confirmed that a tornado touched down in Hamilton County at around 5:14 p.m. Friday. “A brief tornado formed on the southwestern flank of a supercell thunderstorm in southeastern Hamilton County just south of Interstate 80,” NWS reported.
