There were moments during the Class B, Area 4 tournament in Columbus over the weekend that the Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors team played well enough to win.  Those moments, however, didn’t match up often enough with one another.  Aurora began the tournament as the No. 6 seed, falling to No.

The Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors team scored a lot of runs last week, but couldn’t add any to the win column.  In all, the Aurora Cooperative Juniors tallied 18 runs in two games, but lost 15-10 to Wood River June 27 and 14-8 to Kearney June 28.

The Aurora Cooperative Juniors won two of its last three games last week, trying to shift the momentum back positive as the postseason looms not far off.  The Juniors defeated York 10-8 June 21 before a 4-1 loss to Grand Island June 22, but getting a 14-9 win over Doniphan-Trumbull Sunday.

The Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors team has found a bit of success in recent games and coach Jeremy Burgener is hopeful that will continue to trend upwards.  A 12-4 win over DCB June 15 was the team’s third in a row to that point, but an 8-5 loss to Wood River Thursday and 8-5 loss to St.

Can Care-a-Van drive tops goal by thousands Donations far exceeded expectations during last week’s annual Can Care-a-Van drive in Aurora, with local residents contributing food and cash donations which added up to a record 45,648 pounds.

While the Aurora Cooperative Juniors are still searching for its first win of the season, coach Jeremy Burgener knows it isn’t far away.  There were a couple close calls over the weekend as the Aurora Cooperative Juniors competed at a York tournament, losing a pair of contests.

It was a busy stretch of competition for the Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors team as the regular season winds down.  Aurora played three games in three days and now has one game left before districts begin this week.

An early lead turned sour for the Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors squad.  St. Paul scored nine unanswered runs to rally and defeat Aurora 11-3 Sunday from Mitchell Field.  Despite that, though, it was Aurora that held the early lead thanks to a couple runs in the first inning.

The sixth inning was the game-defining moment for York and the Aurora Cooperative Juniors squads at Mitchell Field June 8.  York posted a five-run sixth inning to take the lead and eventually hang on for a 7-5 win over the Aurora Cooperative Juniors team.
