It was a split for the Aurora Post 42 Pinnacle Bank Seniors team in a double-header last week.  After losing both games of a double-header to Gibbon/Shelton back on June 16, Aurora was victorious in one of two games played July 5 from Mitchell Field.

Long days and hot nights herald the peak of summer and for those looking to enjoy some live music the annual Bands on the Bricks summer concert series kicks off this week.  The free community event, now in its fourth year, is set to begin Friday with the band The People.

It was a busy stretch of competition for the Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors team as the regular season winds down.  Aurora played three games in three days and now has one game left before districts begin this week.

Community members gathered for the official unveiling of Aurora’s newest electric vehicle (EV) charging station during A’ROR’N Days. Located north of the Youth Center at 1118 N St., this station shows the cumulative efforts of both businesses, the city and Aurora residents.

The Aurora City Council worked through a busy agenda last week, authorizing $2.77 million in utility revenue bonds to reroute the sewer interceptor line, applying for up to $804,000 in COVID relief funds and approving a 3 percent raise for City Administrator Rick Melcher.

Family, friends and community members gathered inside the Plainsman Museum Saturday morning to honor and celebrate five veterans. The Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild presented the guests of honor with quilts created by their members as Janette Friesen shared each of their stories.
