Hawks soar past Cards

Coming off a five-day holiday break, Hampton’s girls basketball team got back in the gym Monday to prepare for its first home holiday tournament game later that afternoon.  Shots just weren’t falling, making coach Margo LaBrie a bit nervous.  “I just wanted to get the ball in their hands,” she said.

Lady Hawks survive late East Butler rally

Hampton coach Margo LaBrie was shocked looking at the damage East Butler did offensively in the fourth quarter.  The Tigers scored 28 points and completely erased a 13-point deficit.  Yet, LaBrie’s Lady Hawks found a way to gut out a home victory.

Lady Huskies face stiff competition

Aurora’s start to the season was as tough as any.  The Lady Huskies welcomed a tall Adams Central team to Aurora for the season opener Thursday night before playing a ranked Wahoo team the following night.

4R board hears girls wrestling proposal

Aurora wrestling coach and middle school physical education teacher Derek Keasling brought a crowd of supporters and a proposal to incorporate girls wrestling as an NSAA sanctioned sport at Aurora High School to Monday evening’s 4R school board meeting.
