A surge in reported COVID cases combined with a number of other respiratory illnesses are threatening the local healthcare system, according to reports from Memorial Community Health in Aurora.
Local health care officials reported a disturbing rise in COVID cases this week as well as a warning that ICUs in referral hospitals that would normally accept transferred patients are full.

COVID vaccinations hit 20% in county

The number of Hamilton County residents receiving COVID-19 vaccinations topped 20 percent last week, with both Memorial Community Health and Jim’s U-Save Pharmacy offering regular clinics to anyone interested age 16 or over, depending on the type of vaccine. Memorial Community Health Inc.

Aurora native returns to roots for medical school rotation

For Aurora native Drew Thompson, life has come full circle -- almost literally.  The 2014 Aurora High School graduate is now completing one of his last rotations in his pursuit to becoming a doctor, in the very hospital where he was born.

Residents and family members with loved ones at Memorial Community Health’s long-term care facility, Memorial Community Care, as well as East Park Villa, were sent a letter Sunday notifying of a confirmed positive case of a staff member/employee within both facilities’ walls.
