Lady Huskies take fifth at conference meet in Holdrege

Riley Darbro claimed a medal and the Lady Huskies finished fifth in conference golf action Friday at the Holdrege Country Club. It was the second trip to Holdrege in a week for the Aurora girls, though the team wasn’t able to play quite as well with conference competition on the line.

Hawks earn Homecoming victory, double win total

Hampton’s football team flipped the script Friday, exploding on offense and playing four solid quarters of defense to run away from Heartland Lutheran with a convincing 59-18 Homecoming victory.

Aurora's season ends at subdistricts

It sure didn’t end the way it started, but the season Aurora softball put together was one the program hasn’t seen in some time.  Aurora suffered a pair of losses to Hastings and GICC at the B-8 subdistrict tournament in Hastings Monday, ending its season with a 14-13 record.

Friday night roundup week 6

It was a solid week for area teams, going 3-1 as two of those won homecoming matchups.  Aurora renewed an old Class B rivalry, traveling to McCook and picking up its fourth win in a row, setting up a huge matchup with Class B No. 1 Hastings next Friday.

Bulldogs bite Aurora in four

The swings were fierce and momentum shifts aplenty Thursday night between Aurora and Class A's North Platte.  Even though the Lady Huskies had opportunities early, North Platte proved to be too much for Aurora as the Bulldogs won in four sets, 25-23, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-12.

Aurora goes 1-1 at conference

Aurora was a fan of the long ball Thursday at the Central Conference tournament in Lexington.  Through two games, the Lady Huskies blasted six home runs, going 1-1 on the day.  Aurora opened the tournament with a 13-11 loss to Adams Central.

Storm rallies in five

High Plains couldn't hang onto a lead through the first couple of sets and looked as if a sweep loss was in the cards.  Not so fast.  The Lady Storm rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat McCool Junction on the road Tuesday night, 22-25, 24-26, 25-20, 26-24 and 15-12.

Aurora golfers earned more hardware this week though the stakes grow higher now with conference and district meets on the dance card in the coming days. The Lady Huskies earned a third place finish at the Holdrege Invite Thursday, a venue they will see again Friday for the conference showdown.

Friday night roundup week 5

Aurora looked strong in front of a Homecoming crowd, earning a victory over an old rival -- York -- by a 37-21 score.  The Huskies, after starting the season 0-2, has won its last three games and sets up a monumental matchup with another old friend -- McCook -- next Friday at Weiland Field.

Giltner sweeps Nebraska Lutheran

A solid night of serving made for a quick night of volleyball for Giltner, earning a sweep of Nebraska Lutheran Thursday, 25-21, 25-4 and 25-22.  By far the highlight of the night was Giltner's run in the second, only allowing four points from the opponent.
