Hornets punch five tickets to state track meet in Omaha

One thing that had Giltner assistant track coach Chip Bartos smiling from ear to ear last week was the turnout from the Hornet boys in the throws.  At day’s end, two Giltner boys qualified for state in the throws while the Lady Hornets added a couple representatives as well.

Going into Monday’s B-3 District meet at York Country Club, Aurora’s Tate Nachtigal wasn’t on the radar for most people to keep an eye on.  He certainly is now.  Nachtigal, who entered the district meet as Aurora’s No.

Huskies finish 3rd at conference meet

Elks Country Club in Columbus provided a challenge for Friday’s Central Conference meet.  The rough was a challenge and putting was at a premium as Aurora ended the day with two medalists and a third place team effort.

Nebraska’s 2022 draft prospects

Following the completion of the annual spring game, Nebraska’s football program is officially on hiatus. And that’s no doubt a good thing, giving players a mental break after the COVID-plagued 2020 campaign, leading right into winter conditioning and spring ball.

CRC showdown a windy affair Saturday in Osceola

A tough field of competitors and gusty winds made it a challenging day for area track and field teams Saturday in Osceola, where several PRs were set during this year’s Crossroads Conference showdown.

Huskies raise the bar with 10-win soccer season

A memorable boys soccer season came to an end Monday as the Huskies fell to Grand Island Northwest 3-0 in B-7 District play. The loss ends Aurora’s season at 10-8, going down in Husky history as the first boys soccer team to post a winning record.

Special return to Memorial Stadium

Even with temperatures sweltering above 80 degrees, goosebumps and shivers jolted my body when Nebraska coach Scott Frost said during the pregame Tunnel Walk video, “Welcome back to Memorial Stadium.” It felt just like going back home after a long hiatus. Saturday, everything felt normal.

Aurora goes the distance with one of Class B’s finest

It was a learning experience last week for the Husky soccer team.  Aurora picked up a 5-0 win at Seward April 20 before a 7-0 loss to Lexington at home Thursday and a 2-0 loss at Waverly Saturday.

Aurora loses late lead to Lexington

It was quite the up and down week for the Aurora girls soccer team.  The Lady Huskies went 2-2 over a four-game stretch, but there was also a feeling of “what could have been.” Aurora began the week April 20 with a 4-0 road win at Seward before dropping an overtime contest at home against Lexington.
