HPC Storm sending seven athletes to state track meet

It was a huge start to the D-2 district track meet for High Plains. Within the span of two hours, the Storm had punched three tickets to the state meet in tough competition at the D-2 district meet at Osceola.

Never, ever leave early

I’ve always taken issue with people who leave sporting events early.  If you’re going to leave a baseball game during the seventh inning stretch or a football game after the third quarter, why did you even bother showing up in the first place? I should really practice what I preach.

Aurora’s soccer season comes to a close at Northwest

The never-give-up attitude was there, just not enough in the scoring column to extend the season. Aurora’s girls soccer team was defeated by Grand Island Northwest by a 6-2 score during semifinal action of the B-6 subdistrict tournament May 3.

Running has always been an outlet for Chad Oswald.  “I’ve been a long-time runner,” he said. “I’ve always enjoyed it. It’s been more recreational, but it’s my preferred mode of exercise.

Huskies finish runner-up at conference

The Huskies played golf in unfamiliar conditions Friday, teeing it up with no wind on a soggy course, yet found their footing to earn three individual medals and a runner-up trophy at the Central Conference showdown in Seward.

Caden Carlson set the bar of expectations high when considering his college options thus the opportunity to study aerospace engineering at a Division I school wanting him to showcase his talents as a pole-vaulter was a perfect fit.

York rallies past Huskies in OT during postseason action

An early lead wasn’t enough for Aurora on a windy, raining Saturday morning.  The Huskies took a 1-0 lead, but couldn’t hang on as York rallied to defeat Aurora 2-1 in overtime Saturday to start the B-7 subdistrict tournament.  The loss brings an end to Aurora’s season, finishing with a 3-12 record.
It was a good week of golf for Drew Knust, finishing ninth at Beatrice with an 87 and fourth at Holdrege with an 81.

The Aurora golf team is starting to string some rounds together, and pretty good ones at that.  The Huskies played in a pair of tournaments in two days, competing in the Beatrice Invite April 25 and the Holdrege meet April 26.
