Lauri McDonald

Lauri McDonald, age 59, of Neola, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, at her mother’s home in Clay Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 6 at Monroe Evangelical Free Church, 1001 West 18 Road, Phillips. Pastor Joe Mullarkey will officiate.

Robert Andrews

Robert Lee Andrews - dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend - passed away at Memorial Hospital in Aurora, on Monday, January 23, 2023. Per Bob’s wishes, his body was donated for research and will be cremated at the completion of study. Memorial Services will be held April 15, 2023.

Lelan Thieszen

Lelan Roy Thieszen was born on September 5, 1937, to Aaron E. and Helen (Epp) Thieszen on a farm in York County, the third of eight children. He passed away on January 27, 2023, at Legacy Square in Henderson. Lelan loved the outdoors and nature.

Allison Gimpel, age 24, of Clay Center, formerly of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at her home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m.. Friday, January 27 at Pleasant View Bible Church, 307 Manor Drive in Aurora. Pastor Bob Gannon will officiate.

Dixie Mooney

Dixie L. Mooney, 78, of Ottumwa, died at 6:24 a.m. January 9, 2023 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The daughter of Robert and Wilma Ott O’Brien, she was born June 18, 1944 in Aurora. Dixie married Larry Wilson and they later divorced.

James Vetter

James E. Vetter, 74, of Lincoln, passed away at home January 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 12, 1948, in Aurora, the son of Lynn and Betty (Shaneyfelt) Vetter.

Charlotte Baasch

Charlotte Baasch, age 98, of Lincoln, formerly of Aurora, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2022, at The Monarch in Lincoln. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate.

Florence (Abraham) Stevenson

Florence Stevenson, 91, of Richland, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Brookstone Acres in Columbus. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January, 14, 2023 at   10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Schuyler. The  Rev. Sarah Gengler will officiate.

Suzanne Brunken

Suzanne Kay Brunken of Clarks passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island at the age of 78. She is survived by her dear husband of 58 years, Louis Brunken, who now resides at Westfield Nursing Home in Aurora.

Leonard Welch

Leonard Welch, age 81, of Henderson, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at his home in Henderson. Leonard’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the York Adopt-A-Pet.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
