Melissa ‘Missie’ Wendt, 67, of Doniphan, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Good Samaritan in Grand Island. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 19 at St. Jospeh’s Catholic Church in Giltner. Rev. Mark Seiker will officiate.

Richard Alan Schank, 79, of Clarks, died Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his home in Clarks. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the family’s home in rural Clarks on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. His ashes will be spread at a later date.

James William Kaura was born May 17, 1946, in Omaha, to Dorothy Alice Bentley and Arnold Friedrich Kaura.His family moved to Aurora, where his father had accepted the position as the Aurora Hospital Administrator.

Andreasen, 100, of Grand Island, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at The Heritage at Sagewood Assisted Living in Grand Island, surrounded by her loving family. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island is entrusted with the arrangements. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m.

Janis Davis, 92, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the Hearthstone in York. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15 at United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate.   Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. No Visitation.

Dr. Robert Gell

Dr. Robert L. Gell departed peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on January 21, 1935, in Ong, Robert dedicated his life to education, service, and his community, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and commitment. He will be interned at Sutton Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

 Thomas H. Smith, 79 of Kearney passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. A celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2026 at the Kearney American Legion.Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Helen J. Reiter was born in Hazard  to  Lester E. and Myrtle M Brower Reiter. She received her early education at Hazard and graduated from Miller High class of 1946. She attended Kearney State to become a certified teacher. Helen taught 3rd grade at Watertown  from 1947-1949.Donald W.

Funeral services for Marlene Kiser, age 93, of Inman will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Inman Community Church in Inman with burial to follow in the Inman Cemetery.  Randy Scheimchel will be officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
