Jimmy Robert Taylor, son of Glen and Wilma (Griess) Taylor, was born in Sutton, on April 2, 1939, and passed away in Harvard, on August 11, 2026, at the age of 87.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 31, at Stockham Community Church, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Pastor Rick Bartek and Pastor Zachary Manes will officiate. Memorials may be made to Stockham Community Church. Jimmy grew up on the family farm, attended school in Eldorado, and graduated from Harvard High School in 1956. He attended Hastings College before returning to farming. Throughout his life, Jimmy also worked for Kenny Wortman, the ASCS office, and Heseloh Construction. For several winters, he enjoyed cutting trees with his best friend, Max Keasling.
Jimmy was a lifelong farmer and resident of Clay County. He was united in marriage to Lavonne Traudt on October 7, 1961, in Stockham and they had one son, John.
Jimmy loved hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He was a 20-year member of the Harvard Volunteer Fire Department and a 70-year member of the Harvard Rod and Gun Club.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Wilma Taylor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lavonne Taylor of Harvard; his son, John (Laura) Taylor of Taylor; grandchildren, Ray Taylor of Taylor, Michelle Kelly of Westerville, Kelli Taylor of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Jack Taylor of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and great-grandchildren, Kinley and Ryker Taylor and Conley Kelly.
