Bruce, the son of Irving Oscar and Georgene May (Risden) Elge, was born in Aurora, on January 18, 1961. He passed away surrounded by his family in Lincoln, on August 13, 2026.
Bruce grew up on the family farm with his three brothers and graduated from Aurora High School in 1979. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with emphasis in computer science from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. His career with IBM took him to New York and later Western digital and Hitachi in Livermore, California, where he retired in 2019.
Bruce loved the outdoors and adventure. He traveled throughout the world, but Yosemite, Alaska, and Israel held a special place in his heart. He was witty and intelligent, always quick with a comment and a twinkle in his eye. He seemed to know about the latest technology and gadgets before they even hit the market. He loved the California sunshine but always came back home to spend time with his family and on the farm.
Most importantly, Bruce put his trust in Jesus Christ for his salvation and kept his eyes fixed on Jesus throughout his final journey with ALS. Bruce is now whole and in heaven because of the finished work of Jesus on the cross. His family takes great comfort in knowing that, through Christ, they will see him again. What we imagine Bruce would tell us today is the pain and trials of this world fail to compare to being in the presence of God.
Bruce was a life long member of Monroe Evangelical Free Church.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three brothers, Dennis (Kelly), Kevin, and Terry (Kelly), all of rural Aurora; 11 nieces and nephews, Lucy (Tyler) Graham, Levi Elge, Casey (Rhiannon) Svitak, Justin (Chris) Elge, David (Kaylyn) Elge, Kristin (Daniel) Okallo, Jennifer Elge, Meagan (Tyler) Dees, Shelby (Mike) Swanson, Isaac (Lauren) Elge, and Jaydon Elge; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and other family members and friends.
