Katherine "Kathy" Burry

Katherine ‘Kathy” Burry (aunt of Dawn and Heath Enderle of Aurora) 68, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at Grand Island Regiona Hospital, surrounded by a room full of loved ones. After many years of courageously fighting lung disease, she is finally at peace and flying among the butterflies.
Kathy was born on May 21, 1958 in Kimball, to Lorabell Morfeld and Harry Wilson. She was later adopted by Lyle Burry, while she was welcomed into Heaven by her grandparents, parents, spouse, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, adopted granddaughter, and many other loved ones. She leaves behind the family she chose her many nieces and nephews, adopted family, church family, dear friends, and many who loved her. They will continue to carry her memory forward.
If you knew Kathy, you knew she loved creating beautiful things. She made beaded jewelry and bookmarks, enjoyed hours of diamond painting, and loved sharing her creations with others. She was especially excited to enter one of her diamond art pieces in the Hamilton County Fair this year, but sadly passed away before the fair came to town. Wanting to honor her wishes. her great-niece, Cadance, entered it on Kathy’s behalf. and it was awarded a purple ribbon. Kathy would have been absolutely thrilled. This special piece of artwork can be found “ruling the roost” at The Grille inside East Park Villa.
Kathy had a special love for chickens. If you ever ran into her while she was out and about, chances are she was carrying her favorite Vera Bradley chicken purse, a treasured gift from a friend she made at East Park Villa. It was one of those little things that made people smile and was so perfectly Kathy.
A memorial service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held on Saturday. August 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. at The First Christian Church, 1015 L Street, Aurora. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.
The service will also be livestreamed for these who cannot attend.
A second celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10 a.m. at The Grille at East Park Villa, 1704 L Street, Aurora. Residents, staff, family, and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Kathy’s life and the special place she called home.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the residents and staff at East Park Villa. They didn’t just care for Kathy – they loved her. She said she finally felt at home there, surrounded by so many friends who treated her like family.
She spent her final months surrounded by a community that truly became family, and that is exactly how she would want to be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, her creativity. and the smiles she brought to so many.
