Dear Editor:I am a director on the Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District (UBB NRD). I would like it noted that any comments in this letter are solely my opinion. Last Thursday night (8-15-2024) the UBB NRD held a budget hearing followed by the regular monthly board meeting.

A fair to remember

The Hamilton County Fair hit a higher gear in 2024.There is really no way to argue that conclusion, not that anybody tried, after watching this year’s annual end-of-summer tradition unfold at the fairgrounds.

“Here we grow, Hamilton County.”That phrase may sound to some like a marketing tagline, or perhaps real-time commentary on a corn crop that is looking like a bin-buster at this stage of the game in late July.

Dear Editor,I read with some interest Sen. Lippincott’s column titled “Going to school on property tax relief in Nebraska.” In his column he notes the rising number of school staff and the rising number of special needs students.

Focus on learning

The Aurora 4R School Board deserves the community’s full support for sending a strong message to students last month by banning the use of cell phones during school hours.This decision will not be unanimously popular, which was evident in some of the social media reactions posted by students.
