Dear Editor:This letter is for the state of Nebraska Department of Roads.The Department of Roads have a safety meeting at least one time a week at all their highway shops.In Aurora on Highways 14 and 34 the heads in Lincoln don’t care about our safety, but they worry about money.

Trial verdict lacks accountability

Dear Editor:In my opinion, accountability and driver responsibility were dismissed after the recent verdict in the trial concerning the death of Dave Schwartz.Just because a highway has a posted speed limit sign, doesn’t mean that is the safest speed to go.

A priceless asset

The deal announced this week involving a transition of ownership at the Penner Athletic Courts facility is a huge win for the community. Ever since the 22,000 sq. ft. structure opened as a competition gymnasium in 2010, it has been a hub of activity for youth and their families.
