Youth Center rewards ‘Random Acts of Excellence’

Paul Johnson of the Hamilton County Youth Center is helping teenagers get a reward for good behavior via Random Acts of Excellence cards with the support of community members and local businesses as announced on Youth Center Facebook Feb. 3.

County, ag society agree on plans for Extension bldg

County commissioners approved an interlocal agreement Monday with the Hamilton County Ag Society, setting in motion plans to build a new Extension office at the fairgrounds.

Senior Center sees growth in Meals on Wheels program

The welcoming warmth of a home-cooked meal is something universally cherished and it’s served up frequently through the Hamilton County Senior Center.  Welcoming in the new year, staff at the senior center report steady participation in their Meals on Wheels, drive-thru delivery and in-person meals.

As an earmark to the beginning of the new year, a large group of newly-elected, and re-elected, county officials were officially sworn in during a ceremony at the courthouse Friday.

After a three-year pandemic pause, the MCHI Live Healthy Health Fair is coming back Jan. 14, in conjunction with the Craft and Vendor Show at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds.  The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farr Building, with the vendor and craft show lasting until 2 p.m.

Youth Center parties on six months after reopening

The Hamilton County Youth Center has been reopened for six months to middle and high school students and Paul Johnson has been busy with keeping the operation running as a hot spot of teenage activity.
