As is a timely topic around the state, and further, the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners took a good chunk of last week’s meeting to discuss the use of ARPA funds currently allocated and unallocated in the county.
Of note, all funds need to be obligated by Dec. 31, 2024, and spent by Dec. 31, 2026 (of the $1.8 million currently given to Hamilton County). 
This conversation was spurred after Hamilton County Highway Supt. Jeremy Brandt approached the board to discuss the use of a portion of ARPA funds for use on highway roads projects. Brandt is not the first county department to request ARPA funds for projects.
“We’re (talking about) the eight worst sites that we have to replace right now,” he began. “These are all ‘under 20 foot bridges, so the little wooden structures that we can’t get any funds for. These are just 100 percent county costs to do the work.”
