Paul Johnson of the Hamilton County Youth Center is helping teenagers get a reward for good behavior via Random Acts of Excellence cards with the support of community members and local businesses as announced on Youth Center Facebook Feb. 3.
Johnson stated that the cards, which can be redeemed for soda or candy at the Youth Center, a small non-coffee drink at Triple C Coffee or a small Italian Ice at JoJo’s Gelato & Grill, are to let young people know that their good actions are observed just as much as their negative ones.
“I know for me, it was always the negative consequences for the negative actions,” Johnson said about growing up. “I know that as people grow up, they know that there are good consequences for good actions. Like you pay your car loan on time; they don’t take your car. I think it even starts on a smaller level than that. People should notice and appreciate whenever they see someone doing something good, and I feel like that’s missing in today’s society.”
