Hamilton County Sheriff Kirk Handrup announced his quickly approaching retirement from law enforcement during Monday’s Hamilton County Board of Commissioners’ meeting.  This came as a shock to the commissioners.  “Good morning,” he began. “Today, I’m announcing my retirement.

Monday’s Hamilton County Board meeting saw three of the five commissioners joining via Zoom, with the remainder of the usual meeting attendees at the courthouse.  First up on the agenda was another COVID-19 update provided by Hamilton County Emergency Manager Kirt Smith.

Hamilton County Emergency Manager Kirt Smith didn’t have great news when giving county commissioners another COVID-19 update during Monday’s weekly meeting.  Cases are ramping up again, much as predicted.  “As you know things are kind of looking worse,” Smith began.
