Familiar face will take a bow after 43 years of law enforcement service

Hamilton County Sheriff Kirk Handrup announced his quickly approaching retirement from law enforcement during Monday’s Hamilton County Board of Commissioners’ meeting.
This came as a shock to the commissioners.
“Good morning,” he began. “Today, I’m announcing my retirement. After 43 years, 37 of that with Hamilton County and 30 years as sheriff, I’m calling it a career. Those of you who know me know I don’t do anything spur of the moment, and this has been the result of 43 years.”
