Aurora took to the mat at home for one last time during the regular season Thursday night, hosting Ord and St. Paul on senior night for a trio of wrestlers.  The Huskies ended the night with a 54-21 win over Ord, but lost a tight 39-37 dual to St. Paul later on.

Storm wrestlers finally compete on home mats

The Storm wrestling team competed in front of a home crowd for the first time this season last week, hosting a pair of conference schools in a triangular. East Butler and Cross County/Osceola came to Clarks Jan. 5 for some midweek wrestling.

A critical second half run was more than enough for Aurora’s boys basketball team Friday night.  The Huskies used a 15-0 run through the third and fourth quarters to go from a one-possession lead to a double-digit advantage in a 51-37 win over Schuyler at home.

Area volleyball teams highlight top 10 list

The year 2020 had plenty of bad memories, unlucky situations and no shortage of bad mojo to go around.  That’s not what we’re here for today, though. There were plenty of games and moments throughout the 2020 calendar year that made our eyebrows raise, jaws drop and hearts race.

Huskies best Northwest in dual

Aurora came out of the holiday break with fire and it showed on the mat.  The Huskies took care of business Thursday, defeating GINW 49-30 at home in its first match after the Christmas break.

An imposing player on the offensive line, Aurora’s Gage Griffith helped solidify one of the best rushing offenses in all of Class B. While those efforts can often go unnoticed by most, that certainly wasn’t the case for other coaches and media.

Norris bests Aurora in athletic top 10 matchup

Aurora and Norris went tic for tac for much of their midweek top 10 matchup last week in what turned out to be a thrilling December tilt.  In the end, though, Class B No. 3 Norris had the edge on No. 8 Aurora, winning 63-53 in the final game before the holiday break.

Second half rally, late stops lift Giltner to home win

Jacob Smith almost single-handedly kept Giltner within striking distance to help the Hornets keep its unbeaten mark.  The Hornet junior scored a game-high 23 points on 10 of 13 shooting to help Giltner defeat Nebraska Lutheran 40-37 Dec. 15 at home.
