Despite everything that went wrong for Aurora Saturday, they still had a chance on the game's final shot.

Down three in the final seconds, a three-point shot from Tate Nachtigal and Jameson Herzberg each lipped out as Beatrice held on to defeat the Huskies 39-36 Saturday in the B-6 district final in the O-Zone. The win for Beatrice sends the Orangemen to its first state tournament since 2015.

Coming out of a timeout with 15 seconds left, Aurora had a chance to send it to overtime on a three-pointer. The Huskies moved the ball to Nachtigal after a dribble-drive from Herzberg to the corner as Nachtigal's shot bricked out.

A heads-up tip from Mitchell Pachta saved possession for Aurora as Herzberg got a look from NBA range on the wing, but that shot sailed long, too as the final horn sounded.

Aurora led 12-9 after the first but a two-point second quarter allowed Beatrice to take a 21-14 lead to halftime as the Huskies played catch-up the rest of the afternoon.

The game was the final in the careers of seniors Herzberg, Pachta, Andrew Bell and Cayden Phillips. Aurora ends its season with a 16-10 record.
