Recalling NU’s first title run

The year was 1969 and I was 11 years old, already a big Husker football fan growing up in Lincoln and going to a couple games with my dad. It was also PTNWTFNC (prior to Nebraska winning their first National Championship).

Lady Huskies continue offensive success

The Lady Husky hitting parade continued through the second week of the season. Aurora picked up its fifth win in a row -- all at home -- by defeating Holdrege 10-3 Thursday night, before going 2-1 at the Seward tournament over the weekend.

Aurora golfers finish 7th at Seward

The Lady Huskies bagged some experience in the season opening golf tournament Friday at Seward, learning valuable lessons but ultimately coming home without any hardware. On a beautiful day for golf, Aurora placed seventh in a 12-team field with two players finishing just out of the medal count.

Hornets hope to build on successes from Friday’s defeat

Gilnter found itself in unfamiliar territory midway through the first half of its opening night tilt with Heartland -- playing with a lead. It wouldn’t last, however, as the run-heavy Huskies scored 44 consecutive points in a 72-26 win over the Hornets in Heartland Friday night.

Featuring several new players and returning to its old guard, High Plains took the gridiron once again as the Storm, hosting Lawrence-Nelson Friday night. The Raiders were primed and ready, rushing past High Plains in a 66-30 contest in Clarks.

Huskies kick off season strong with team gold

The Aurora boys cross country team began its season at the Grand Island Northwest Invite Friday where they brought home second place for their combined team effort, coming up just short of the winning mark.

Lady Hawks start season off 1-2

Hampton’s first serve of the volleyball season came Saturday, participating in Axtell’s tournament. The Lady Hawks ended up going 1-2 on the day, losing matches to Silver Lake and Loomis before defeating Palmer to end the afternoon.

Huskies set for season opener Friday

After a summer and preseason of uncertainty, game week has finally arrived in Husky Nation, with the Aurora football team chomping at the bit to take the field for the season opener against North Platte.
