2010: New Era for Hornets volleyball program For the first time in about a decade, the Lady Hornets will have a new volleyball coach. Jess Lovejoy takes over for Kurt Polt, who led Giltner to a state championship in 2008 and a 2007 district final appearance.

‘We just want to play’

Practices have begun for fall sports teams at all area schools, with coaches and players adapting to pandemic protocols not knowing for certain how, or if, the 2020 season will play out. Many teams are wearing masks before and during practice, as well as in the locker room.

Just five years removed from competing in high school athletics, Brittany (Dose) Klingsporn still looks like she can succeed at the varsity level. In fact, she hopped right into practice warm-ups and drills with her new team to demonstrate something or keep the flow moving.

All the drama that surrounds college football these days makes my head hurt. And hurt. And hurt. And hurt. To play or not to play? To be safe, or at least safer, as in not playing. Or safer, as in staying unified and monitored as a team in a more controlled environment?

Tanner Wonch wrote on his Twitter account back in April of 2019 that he would compete in the UFC one day. If he keeps rising at the pace he’s at now, that may come true sooner rather than later.

Badura caps summer season with clutch performance

Was anyone’s summer as fruitful as Danica Badura’s? The Aurora grad and South Dakota golfer earned a third Nebraska golf championship last week, using a five-under 67 final round to win the 46th Nebraska Women’s Amateur Championship at The Country Club of Lincoln.
