Aurora students parade tractors for National FFA Week

Eleven students in Aurora’s FFA and ag classes drove their tractors to school and later paraded down M Street and around the downtown square last Wednesday afternoon as part of Drive Your Tractor to School Day for National FFA Week.

Vetter to showcase ‘Batiks of Nature’ in Friday exhibit

Aurora resident Megan Vetter will be debuting her first art exhibition, “Batiks of Nature,” at the Flynn & Ivy on Friday, from 5-9 p.m.The exhibit will feature approximately 20 art pieces by Vetter in the style of batik, which involves using wax and resin dye on fabrics.

Scherff embraces public speaking side of FFA as chapter president

While Aydenn Scherff didn’t grow up on a working farm, he has spent his life around cattle and now has his own small herd. That has prepared him well for being president of the Hampton FFA chapter this year and helping to oversee the famous Hawk Herd beef animal lab.

The audience assembled for the opening session of the Aurora Cooperative annual meeting Feb. 11 obviously knew it was in for something special when Navy SEAL Commander Rorke Denver took the stage at 10 a.m. He received a standing ovation before he had uttered a single word.
