The winner of the wildlife/pets category in ANR's annual Amateur Photography Contest was Cheyenne Lopez, who won top honors in  for an image she took while on a walk not far from her home by Pioneer Trails.“I love to go outside and explore nature trails,” Lopez said.

Lightning strikes 1st place in 'Snapshot Nebraska'

Tricia Kubik won first place in the Snapshot Nebraska category of the ANR Amateur Photo Contest with this capture of what appears to be lightning striking a tractor. She was visiting with Bryce Wert on her back patio on the edge of Aurora in June when she saw lightning in the distance.
Dr. Jesse Bell, a professor of water, climate and health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, shared his research and views on studies involving the presence and impact of nitrates in the state’s drinking water supply at the Grain Place Foundation’s Field Day on July 18.

The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) is investigating an apparent suicide that occurred in Marquette Wednesday morning after law enforcement attempted to serve a search warrant as part of an ongoing child exploitation investigation. A news release from NSP states that at approximately 7 a.m.

The speed limit along Highway 34 through Aurora will be reduced by 5 to 10 miles per hour at specific locations based on an ordinance passed last week by the Aurora City Council.
