The Aurora Cooperative reported “a challenging but profitable year” in fiscal 2023 at last week’s summit and annual meeting in Grand Island, with president and CEO Chris Decker announcing a pledge to create a new standard of excellence with a concept called “AuroraOne.

A month after a string a frigid weather caused Aurora school officials to cancel school six days in a period of two weeks, Supt. Jody Phillips recapped the district’s winter weather procedures while also advising the board on the status of possible make-up days.
In recognition of their many years of dedication and volunteer service to Hamilton County, Barb and Jim Johnson were awarded the Aurora Area Chamber and Development Humanitarian Award in 2005.

Some of Hamilton County’s top spellers will be putting their skills to the test at the annual Hamilton County Spelling Bee on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The contest will be held at the Ag Building at the Hamilton County fairgrounds. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. with the contest beginning at 9.
