Exploring the low Platte River

We went exploring on Saturday. We tromped along a path in the brush from a friend's house to the Platte, and spent a few hours playing in the river. Initially, the kids were disappointed that there was almost more sand than water.

Card shower to honor Schuster’s 70th wedding anniversary

The family of Don and Lois (Yonker) Schuster are honoring them with a card shower in celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married Aug. 27, 1950 at St. Paul’s English Lutheran Church in Grand Island.

It was a classic love story. Boy meets girl. Girl doesn’t care for boy right away, then comes love and then comes a marriage that has spanned seven decades for Max and JoAnn Friesen. The couple met for the first time back in 1949 at a football game.
