It’s time to let yet another bountiful harvest begin, safely

It’s worth the time to make a special trip these days out into the field or to an area elevator to watch a timeless harvest tradition unfold. Just remember to do it safely.  As the combines start rolling, we are reminded that this is one of the most dangerous seasons of the year in farm country.

A new ‘guy’ in bedroom makes a guy wonder

What’s a fella supposed to do when he comes home and finds a guy in his bedroom? That was the case this past week when I returned to our house late-morning after being at the dog shelter. At least the ending of my story is a happy one even though my imagination got carried away earlier.

Above all, Nebraska is a community. After 2019’s historic flooding, we didn’t simply cut our losses and move on. Instead, the best among us inspired the nation by looking out for those who were hit hardest and helping them get back on their feet.

A successful session for lawmakers

The Nebraska Legislature’s “short session” went much longer than usual this year due to coronavirus. While the session didn’t wrap up until August, it was worth the wait for Nebraskans.

Substance over style
