Good morning! I was reading letters by Robert Lewis Stevenson this week and he stated to his mother that he believed there was another sense we don’t mention. The sense of memory. He was describing a scene he hopes will be in his memory in the future.

The Fourth of July has passed and now our dog has come out from under the bed. That had been her safe zone the past few weeks when the booms from fireworks broke the silence of our neighborhoods. In our clan fireworks were not a part of the Fourth of July celebration.

A meaningful military tribute Dear Editor: This last Fourth of July I, along with other veterans, experienced an honor very unexpected to us. Two high school girls from the Aurora music department came to our home and played the National Anthem in honor of my Marine Corps service in Korea.

Albert Lyle Weedin

Albert Lyle Weedin was born May 19, 2020, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 inches long. Albie is welcomed home by his parents Drew and Paige Weedin and his big sisters Delaney and Henley.

Card shower to honor Wishart’s 50th anniversary July 13

The children of Steve and Vicki Wishart are requesting a card shower in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. Steve and Vicki were married July 13, 1970 at United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Their children are Kristi (Kirk) Bruns of Springview and Brian (Bethany) Wishart of Arvada, Colorado.

Curtis-Adams announce engagement

Amy Curtis and Dave Adams, both of Aurora, will be united in marriage July 11, 2020 at Monroe Evangelical Free Church in Phillips. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Roger and Diane Levering of Aurora. The future groom is the son of Timothy and Ruby Adams of Gladstone, Mo.

Joel Miller earns NAEA’s Outstanding Teacher award

Joel Miller, the agricultural education instructor at Hampton Public Schools, was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award by the Nebraska Agricultural Educators Association at the NAEA virtual awards ceremony June 10 as part of the Nebraska Career Education Conference.
