Suzanne Brunken

Suzanne Kay Brunken of Clarks passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island at the age of 78. She is survived by her dear husband of 58 years, Louis Brunken, who now resides at Westfield Nursing Home in Aurora.

Leonard Welch

Leonard Welch, age 81, of Henderson, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at his home in Henderson. Leonard’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the York Adopt-A-Pet.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Furse

Michael C. Furse, age 61, passed away Jan. 3, 2023 after a long illness at his home on East Battle Lake, Minn. Mike was born in Denison, Iowa on March 24, 1961 to Ronald “Butch” and Nancy Furse. In 1965 the family moved to Aurora.

Eunice Mae Kissel

Eunice Mae Kissel of Cozad, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora at the age of 98. Eunice was born May 9, 1924 in Eldorado, to Irving and Mable Elnora (Erickson) Rath, and was welcomed by anxious brothers and sisters as the 6th of 7 children.

Florence Eileen (Epp) Friesen, age 74 of Henderson, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023 at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, after fighting a short and courageous battle with cancer.

James (Jim) Salmon

James (Jim) E. Salmon, 89, died on December 28, 2022, in Evansville, Indiana.  He was born on October 14, 1933, in Aurora, to the late Royal and Lettie (Majors) Salmon.

Murlene Mickey

Murlene Mickey, age 84, of Aurora, formerly of Osceola, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Memorial Community Care. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1420 9th Street, Aurora. Rev. Mark Seiker will officiate.

Edgar Rasmussen

Edgar Rasmussen, age 94, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Harvard Care Center. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 31 at the St. John’s Church in Kronborg. Rev. Ricardo Riqueza will officiate. Interment will be at the Aurora Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Richard "Dick" Rice

Richard “Dick” D. Rice, 84, of Chapman, passed away on December 20, 2022 at CHI Health-St. Francis.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Chapman Baptist Church.  Pastor Beth Gregory will officiate.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 27 from 5-7 p.m.

Karen Andersen

Karen Andersen, age 78, of Marquette, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, at Memorial Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 28 at the St. John’s Church in Kronborg. Rev. Ricardo Riqueza will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
