Barb Hansen has a thick folder full of papers she has saved over the years during her 19-year career as an educator, but it has nothing to do with curriculum or classroom preparation.

When the sun is shining and the weather is good, Giltner resident Glenn Nielsen loves taking his fully restored 1971 Mustang Mach 1 out for a spin.“(I take) anybody who wants to go for a ride,” Nielsen said. “We drive it to a lot of the car shows and we want to drive it more in the summer.

The annual spring migration of more than a million Sandhill Cranes from winter locations around the nation and the world back to their nesting grounds in the Nebraska Sandhills and beyond is quite a spectacle.

More than 270 guests, many dressed in flamboyant 1980s era Miami Vice attire, celebrated philanthropy with flare Friday by raising more than $44,000 to support Respiratory Therapy Department upgrades at Memorial Hospital.

The Optimist Youth Soccer league had a successful running start this spring with 408 K-6 students participating for six Saturday mornings continuing through May 11. The weather Saturday morning was breezy with enough sun for the players to shine in their second game of the season.
