HPC Storm battle at competitive Platteview Invite Friday

High Plains competed last week with multiple schools much larger in size and had some success.  The Storm finished out the first part of the season before Christmas break at the Platteview Invite Friday, including schools from multiple classes all in one event.

Understanding the chaos of youth wrestling

Surely a couple future state wrestling champions were in action Friday night at Aurora’s youth wrestling tournament.  Attending a wrestling event in general is unlike any other sporting event out there. Going to a youth event with PreK-aged tykes makes it that much more unique.

Jeremy Oswald’s last high school victory will be one to remember.  It wasn’t for a state title, or even for a medal. It was for career win No. 100 in front of a state wrestling crowd.

On paper, it was Aurora’s best state championship run since 2005. The Huskies had five semifinalists, three finalists and two state champions.  The two wrestlers who didn’t come out on the right side of semifinal matches were Brekyn Papineau and Aaron Jividen.

Storm wrestlers finally compete on home mats

The Storm wrestling team competed in front of a home crowd for the first time this season last week, hosting a pair of conference schools in a triangular. East Butler and Cross County/Osceola came to Clarks Jan. 5 for some midweek wrestling.
