Today (Jan. 29), Gov. Pete Ricketts announced that the State is moving from the “blue” to “green” phase of its coronavirus pandemic response plan. As a result, the State of Nebraska is issuing new Directed Health Measures (DHMs) effective 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021.

Thursday was a historic moment in time for Hamilton County, as members of its fire and rescue departments received some of the first doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.

Hamilton County first responders see first doses of Pfizer COVID vaccine

A handful of local EMTs and paramedics from Aurora and Hampton were on hand at the Aurora Fire Station today to receive their first doses, and the first for the county, of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. These doses were allocated through the Central District Health Department.

“You tested positive for COVID-19.” Those are words nobody wants to here in 2020. Unfortunately, this global pandemic found its way to Hamilton County early on, impacting many people’s lives directly and disrupting countless others in various ways, including my own.
