A special moment

I’m not sure why I was so nervous pulling up to Aurora’s beautiful new football turf last week.  The moment had to be not only a special one, but perfect, too. Just like all the moments the duo has provided all of us in the past.

For the first time in years, Giltner’s Nancy Lockmon didn’t attend Monday’s Central Nebraska Track Championships while wearing a stopwatch around her neck.  She still left the event with some hardware.

Allen talks leadership, team bonding ahead of spring ball

It doesn’t feel like that long ago when Austin Allen was just trying to not get in the way while making sure everything he did was to a T.  Now, his biggest goal is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum.

Area volleyball teams highlight top 10 list

Allen snags first career touchdown for Big Red

Watching Saturday’s Nebraska-Minnesota game had my insides feeling like the outside temperature and my personal version of the good, the bad and the ugly.  Let’s start with the positive, because it’s going to get a lot worse from here. The good: Austin Allen, pride of Aurora, finally found pay dirt.

Allen, Huskers tough out victory in home opener

Was it celebration or relief? Why couldn’t it be both? It was definitely both.  After the sweetest formation in football, Nebraska tight end Austin Allen turned around to see Luke McCaffrey, fresh off his first career collegiate start, and hugged it out.

The BigRich Sports Report

I wrestled on a topic before plopping down to try and pass out some words of wisdom and decided to keep it positive by focusing on the hometown Big Red instead of that other Big Red team down Interstate 80.

Husky Special

The play began to develop and you could see it from a mile away -- or specifically -- just behind the north end zone.  They ran it earlier on a two-point play -- surely it won’t work twice -- this time with the game in the balance, right?
