The action in the arena was loud and the stands were nearly full Friday for the annual Hamilton County Fair demolition derby. Crews had covered the track with plenty of water before the race, which prevented drivers from building up too much speed.

The Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors squad closed out the regular season June 30 at Mitchell Field on a high note.For the second time this season, Aurora posted a win over Kearney, earning a 10-1 win to round out the regular season with a 7-12 record.

High school and college athletes had the opportunity to take their shot in A’ROR’N Days’ first shot put competition on Saturday.For its first year, 20 competitors entered the ring ranging from high school to collegiate throwers.Running the shot put event was Burger Lambrechts Jr.

Aurora Cooperative Juniors down GI at Mitchell

The Aurora Cooperative Post 42 Juniors team finished off the third of three consecutive games with a convincing 12-4 win over Grand Island Tom Dinsdale Saturday from Mitchell Field.The win followed what was an 11-6 loss Friday against St. Paul, an 8-4 loss to York and a 5-0 loss at DCB June 23.
The field is off at running at the start of a 5K race on Saturday.

It was a picture perfect morning for a run Saturday, which drew a strong field of runners and walkers to the annual MCHI Fun Run, kicking off the day’s A’ROR’N Days activities.

Baylor Scheierman still remembers the first time someone asked him for an autograph. Oddly enough, it was after a freshman basketball game the former Aurora Husky played at Boone Central. Scheierman didn’t look anything like the sizable NBA athlete he’s grown into in the decade since that moment.
