Curtis Marlatt, age 79, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Westfield Quality Care.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 12 at the Aurora United Methodist Church, 1104 A Street, Aurora. Revs. Michelle Reed and Teyrl T. Otto will officiate. Private family inurnment will be prior to service at the Phillips Cemetery.   Memorials may be made in care of the family to designate at a later date. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is coordinating the arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family at the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.
Curtis Jason Marlatt, the son of Lloyd and Anna (Sanders) Marlatt was born in Hastings, on August 12, 1944 and passed away in Aurora, on October 8, 2023, at the age of 79.
Curt grew up in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School.  
Curt was married to Jeanette Cornelius on July 5, 1964 at Phillips.   They had three children, Teresa, Rob and Randy.   Curt worked at Lacy Construction and helped construct Northwest High School in Grand Island.   In 1972, Curt and John Ryan started Marlatt & Ryan Construction and worked until 1984.   Curt then worked at Aurora High School doing maintenance and driving a bus.   In 1991, Curt and Jeanette moved to California, where he worked construction.   They returned to Phillips in1994, where he worked construction in the area.   Jeanette passed away on January 31, 1996.
Curt was a member of the Phillips Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge AM & FM in Phillips.   He was an avid hunter, made knives, worked with leather and was a winemaker.   Curt loved to cook.   He even cooked for the Shrine Football Team for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette; son, Randy Marlatt and sister, Joan Heinzeman.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his daughter, Teresa (Jay) Otto of Omaha, their daughter, Jaycee Otto; son, Rob (Laurel) Marlatt of Aurora, their sons, Aaron and Ryan; daughter-in-law, Sue Marlatt of Murdock, her sons, Caleb and Tyler Marlatt.   He is also survived by his sister, Reva Zlomke and many other family members and friends.
