Randy Drew, age 71, of York, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17 at the Emmauel Lutheran Church in York. Rev. Ben Kaiser will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Randy Harmon Drew, the son of Raymond Belden, Hilton Hamlin and Janet (Hunt) Drew, was born at Bristol, Connecticut, on October 5, 1954, and passed away at York, on October 4, 2026, at the age of 71.
Randy spent his childhood in several states, because his father Raymond had worked for Boeing Aircraft. He finished his schooling graduating from Wichita North High School in 1972. Randy began his career with BNSF Railroad in 1973, where he remained for 41 years, working in various cities throughout Nebraska. He sold real estate for a number of years in addition to working for the railroad.
Randy was married to Joyce Hansen and they had two daughters: Wendy and Stacy.
Randy was married to Diane Kamtz on December 31, 1982 and they had a daughter, Amber. They resided in York since 1981.
Randy was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his Saturday morning Bible study at Emmanuel Lutheran Stephen’s Ministries for several years and attended Promise Keepers for a number of years. Randy liked helping many of his neighbors and friends with their odd jobs, landscaping and projects around the home. He especially enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s numerous activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond Belden, Janet Hunt and Hilton Drew.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Diane Drew of York; three daughters, Wendy (Drew) Samson of Pleasant Dale, Stacy (Marc) Groetzinger of Aurora and Amber (Jason) Detweiler of Lincoln; grandchildren, Madison (Niklas) Gustav, Jack Reed, Claire Reed, Vivian Auxier and Betsy Samson, Hayden Groetzinger, Lena Groetzinger, Ryder Carlson, Hunter Carlson, Jaxon Corbin and twins, Theo and Hayden Detweiler and great-grandchild, Paisley. He is also survived by his siblings, Chris (Wallis) Drew and Gregg (Dawn) Drew, Karen Nicoll, Donna Smith and Hilton Drew, Jr., many nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
