The pursuit of a stolen vehicle that began on I-80 in York County last Tuesday ended abruptly near the Aurora exit (332) when the stolen 2024 Nissan Altima crashed into the back of a semi truck shortly after 4 p.m. Lt. Alex Hildebrand of the York County Sheriff’s Office says shortly before 4 p.m.

Four more candidates file for elected office

Four names have been added to the list of candidates seeking local office in the 2024 election. Incumbents in partisan elections, such as for Hamilton County Commission, have only until Thursday to complete their candidate filings. The deadline for non-incumbents in partisan elections is March 1.

Museum fundraiser tops $22,000

Months of planning culminated in an evening of giving Feb. 5, resulting in the Plainsman Museum raising more than $22,000 during its annual fundraising event.“We had an awesome evening,” reported Tina Larson, the museum’s executive director.

Hampton daycare receives grant from state foundation for kids

Plans to begin a community daycare facility in the former Lutheran School building at Hampton got a big boost recently with the announcement of a grant that will provide $30,000 worth of funding and practical guidance over the next three years.

Synergen open house Tuesday

Synergen Green Energy Inc. will host a community open house on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the Bremer Community Center in Aurora from 5 to 7 p.m. The open house is an opportunity to learn more about Synergen’s plans for an ammonia facility in Hamilton County.
