Grain dust touched off by heat from a bearing failure is believed to have been the cause of an explosion that rocked the KAAPA ethanol plant at Aurora West last Tuesday evening.
This commemorative booklet was published following the Pioneer Days celebration. It contains numerous photos of the parade floats and other entries as well as poems and readings that were delivered during the celebration. It concludes with a list of 362 people who registered at the 1924 event as original Hamilton County pioneers. To qualify for the list, individuals had to have been 21 years of age or older in 1884.

“Crickets!” That’s how Hamilton County officials described on Monday the level of communication from the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) since the abrupt closure of the Aurora drivers license office at the courthouse a month and a half ago.

The equipment was actually purchased by HCF’s Women in Philanthropy as part of a growing partnership between the two foundations.
