alking off the Omaha Burke track surface for a variety of reasons. The Aurora senior had just clocked a 2:22.78 time in the 800, a new personal record for herself. While that took most of what she had left in the tank, reality began to set in that her track and field career had just come to a close.

Griffith sweeps Class B throws

Gage Griffith had himself a weekend.  The Aurora junior added a win in the Class B shot put event Saturday to his win in the discus on Friday, taking gold in both events for the Huskies at the state track and field meet from Omaha Burke.

Aurora's Gage Griffith had a day on Friday.  The Aurora junior set a new PR during his winning efforts in the Class B discus event Friday at the state track and field meet at Omaha Burke, closing near the top of Aurora's all-time list in the process.

Wood ends HPC career on high note

High Plains senior Tanner Wood went out on a high note Thursday.  Wood set a new career best mark in high school pole vault competition Thursday, clearing 12-00 to finish 9th in the event during Class D action at the state track and field meet from Omaha Burke.

Storm send five to state track meet

Throughout most of the 2021 track season, a couple events have become staples for the High Plains track team. For the most part, those events will be well represented by the Storm in Omaha this week.

Hornets punch five tickets to state track meet in Omaha

One thing that had Giltner assistant track coach Chip Bartos smiling from ear to ear last week was the turnout from the Hornet boys in the throws.  At day’s end, two Giltner boys qualified for state in the throws while the Lady Hornets added a couple representatives as well.

Huskies finish 3rd at conference meet

Elks Country Club in Columbus provided a challenge for Friday’s Central Conference meet.  The rough was a challenge and putting was at a premium as Aurora ended the day with two medalists and a third place team effort.

Nebraska’s 2022 draft prospects

Following the completion of the annual spring game, Nebraska’s football program is officially on hiatus. And that’s no doubt a good thing, giving players a mental break after the COVID-plagued 2020 campaign, leading right into winter conditioning and spring ball.
