An emotional finale

The emotions were flowing after Aurora's first-round playoff loss Friday, with seniors Collin Stolpe and Maddex Egger among many sharing an embrace after playing their final high school football game.

It was a tough travel day for Hamilton County fans as Hampton headed way west to Hay Springs while Aurora had a much shorter trip to Hastings for a rematch with Adams Central.Neither game fared well for the area teams as Hampton lost 66-26 while Aurora dropped a tight 9-7 contest to the Patriots.

A first half defensive shutout and a running game in overdrive proved to be the difference in this year’s budding Aurora/Central City rivalry, as the Huskies held on to an early lead to win the regular season finale, 41-27.That was the margin after a low-scoring first half, with Aurora up 14-0.

Storm defeat Knights in four

High Plains extended its season Monday night despite a slow start offensively.The Storm rallied after a first set loss to Nebraska Lutheran to defeat the Knights in four, 19-25, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-13 in the D2-4 subdistrict semifinals played at Meridian.
