It was a tough night on the gridiron as all four Hamilton County teams faced road trips near the halfway point of the 2024 season.Aurora falls to 0-4 on the season as Columbus Scotus scored four second half touchdowns to down the Huskies, 42-28.

Hampton and Giltner renewed its rivalry on the volleyball floor Thursday in the night cap of triangular play.The Hornet offense bested a solid Hawk defense as Giltner won the match in two, 25-22 and 25-12.

While emotions were high, the Aurora girls cross country team battled to become the third overall team at its home meet Friday afternoon from Poco Creek.

It had been a challenging week both physically and mentally for the Aurora boys cross country team capped with  a highly emotional run at home Friday.Charlie Evans was the first of the Huskies to finish and top non-Hastings runner across the line in fourth with a time of 17:26.

The Aurora Huskies competed at Seward Thursday morning competing against 21 teams of various sizes and strengths.Despite the rough competition, Aurora coach Tony Sigler was pleased with his runners perseverance.

It was nearly a perfect night on the hill for Zoe Johnson.The Aurora senior tossed a complete game winner Thursday over rival York, including a no hitter through five innings as the Huskies blanked the Dukes, 8-0.

HPC’s home debut, much like the start of its season overall, finished with perfection.The Storm volleyball team won a pair of matches Sept. 3 over Riverside and Twin River, holding firm on its season performance of not dropping a single set.

Gage Friesen ran like he was mad at the grass Friday night. The High Plains senior scored four rushing touchdowns as HPC defeated Palmer 51-8 in its home opener. Friesen tallied more than 100 rushing yards for the second straight week with two of his touchdown rushes going for 40-plus yards.
