Lady Huskies set for district tourney

The Aurora girls wrestling team began its postseason push Saturday, competing in the Central Conference tournament in Crete.The Lady Huskies didn’t have any overall winners, but sported three bronze medalists as well as six medalists overall.

One thing is certain. Aurora’s boys basketball team is never out of it and that was proven twice on consecutive nights.The Huskies overcame deficits of four and seven in the final minute of games against Seward and Kearney Catholic, forcing overtime and eventually winning both.

Storm lose double OT heartbreaker

The magic of the York City Auditorium didn’t favor the High Plains boys basketball team. The Storm found themselves in a barn burner Monday night as Osceola came from behind to force two overtimes and eventually win, 57-52 in the CRC quarterfinals.

Huskies rally to runner-up finish at David City

Aurora’s wrestlers put on a solid showing Friday in David City.The Husky boys were just nipped at the end in the team battle as the host Scouts held off Aurora. David City scored 156.5 points ahead of Aurora’s 155, including two champions on the day.

Aurora girls battle tough competition at Lex

The Aurora girls wrestling team battled at the ultra competitive Lexington Invite Friday with some of the state’s best teams.The Minutemaids won its own meet with 159 points, ahead of the likes of Grand Island Northwest, Grand Island, Kearney and Beatrice in the top five.
