Gavin Gilmore made a huge statement for the Hawks Friday night.The Hampton senior scored a major double-double, including 34 points and 14 rebounds despite a 51-43 loss at home to Shelby-Rising City.

Despite nearly two weeks off, Booker Scheierman and the Aurora Huskies were nearly perfect last week.That culminated in a Friday night home showcase where the Huskies shot above 50 percent as a team in an 87-29 win over Schuyler.

The High Plains wrestling team hosted a one-of-a-kind event over the weekend that promises to deliver in the years that follow.The Norm Manstedt wrestling invitational tournament featured 27 teams across all four classes and featured eight mats running simultaneously.

Aurora dominant in return to competition

A near two-week hiatus did little to slow the momentum for the Aurora girls basketball team.The Lady Huskies returned to the floor after 10 days off and rattled off back-to-back wins, defeating St. Paul on the road 39-19 Thursday night before routing Schuyler at home Friday, 59-18.

The Huskies began 2025 with a new event in a very familiar environment.Aurora’s boys competed at Friday’s Duke Duals in York, one of eight teams to compete in a series of five duals throughout the day.
